Passion Project

This project was created for my Art of Web Design class, where we were able to choose our own topic. I’ve been vegan since August 2017, so designing a site focused on vegan living allowed me to combine something personal with my growing design skills.

The Vegan Edit

This project was created for my Art of Web Design course and developed from concept to completion in Squarespace. My goal was to build a warm, welcoming vegan lifestyle site that felt easy to navigate and visually consistent. Throughout the process, I explored page structure, color choices, imagery, and content organization to establish a clear user flow. This project strengthened my design foundations and gave me hands-on experience creating a cohesive multi-page website.

Project Details:

When I started this program, I knew I loved beautiful visuals, well-organized layouts, and thoughtful storytelling, but I didn’t yet see myself as a “designer.” Over the past semesters, that has changed completely. I’ve learned how much I enjoy creating clean, engaging experiences and how naturally design fits the way my brain works. I notice details, I love structure, and I’m happiest when I’m building something that feels both intentional and intuitive.

Along the way, I also learned what is not my favorite, like digging into code. Instead of seeing that as a weakness, it helped me understand my strengths more clearly. I thrive in the creative process: researching, planning, wireframing, shaping layouts, choosing typography, building hierarchy, and crafting a visual story that feels cohesive and welcoming. I’ve discovered that I love design because it lets me combine creativity, organization, and problem solving in a way that feels meaningful and fun.

Looking back at where I began and comparing it to what I can create now, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Every project has stretched me, taught me something new, and strengthened my confidence. I’ve developed real skills, a strong eye for detail, and a deeper understanding of how design decisions shape a user’s experience. Most importantly, I’ve realized that this is something I truly enjoy and something I want to keep getting better at.
