Robotics Team (WordPress Website Project)

Designed and built a WordPress site for a local robotics team to showcase events, photos, and achievements.

My first website project, this design introduced me to WordPress and content management fundamentals. The goal was to give the team an online hub where students and families could access event updates, team photos, and accomplishments. I focused on creating an engaging yet easy-to-maintain layout, which taught me valuable lessons about usability, structure, and managing real content within a live platform.

Project Details:

Role: Designer & Developer

Course: WordPress

Tools: WordPress, Canva

Process: Wireframing, Content Layout, Site Customization

Date: Fall 2024

Working on the Robotics Team website taught me the importance of slowing down and planning before diving into design. I realized that wireframes aren’t just a quick sketch, they are an essential step for visualizing layout and structure. While this project was my first experience building a site in WordPress, I learned that creating digital wireframes in a tool like Figma would have helped me better organize the site’s content and flow. Since our instructor gave us very little structure, I had to learn how to guide myself through the process. This experience showed me how valuable it is to create my own framework for design projects and to approach each one with clear goals and a plan.
